Mamie Taylor was a famous opera singer around the turn of the 20th century and one story goes that a Rochester, New York bartender created this drink at her request sometime around 1899. This tall cooler is a simple three-ingredient cocktail, that blends Scotch, Lime Juice and is topped with Ginger Beer.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. 60ml Whisky, Scotch, blended
  • 0.5 oz. 15ml Lime Juice
  • top top Ginger Ale
Display: oz. ml.

Instructions

Pour the whiskey and lime juice into a highball glass filled with ice. Top with Ginger Ale

Garnish

Lime wedge

Thirty years after its creation, the Mamie Taylor appears in Albert Stevens Crockett’s 1935 The Old Wardorf-Astoria Bar Book was sadly never managed to recover from Prohibition and has since faded from the limelight.
