DIY Ice Nest Garnish

If you’re looking for a garnish to hold your berries above a summer cocktail and add a bit of sparkle to your drink, then an Ice Nest is worth a try

We thought we’d mix thing up a little this week with a rather fun but super easy garnish that is ideal for summer berries.

Shaped a little like a bird’s nest this Ice Nest allows your berries (be those blackberries, raspberries, blueberries or even some cut up strawberries) to nestle lovingly above your drink without being pierced by a cocktail pick.

All you need is crushed ice and a handheld citrus juicer to make the shape.

Either crush your ice the old-fashioned way with a tea-towel and a large rolling pin or be a little bit modern and throw the ice through a blender or food processor.

Once your ice is crushed, pile it into the citrus juicer and press for a few minutes.

The trick now is to carefully extract the nest shape from the juicer. A good way is to run a thin knife around the edges and quickly turn it out

Once the nest is out you can fill it with berries and balance it on the top of a glass and you can easily transform everyday berries into beautiful drink topper.

Perfect for drinks like the Philly Smash and the Berry Nice.
