7 EDC Flasks

A flask can be one of the most important parts of your EDC. You may not use it every day, but like a multitool, it’s good to know it’s there

By: Tiff Christie|July 15,2020

Whether you are looking to carry straight spirits or a prebatched cocktail, a good flask can be a lifesaver. While we wouldn’t encourage you to use it if you are going to be driving or in the presence of co-workers, there are definitely times when a ‘wee nip’ can take the edge off and provide a little courage.

Like any piece of everyday carry (EDC), the choice of flask is a very personal one. It will depend on the contents, the occasion and even your fashion choices. So whether you take a little whiskey when you go to the inlaws, a nip of negroni for the opera or take the tequila on a day of quad biking with your mates, it’s good to know your flask is at hand.

We’ve pulled together 7 flasks we think can add. either style, function or practicality to your EDC.

VSSL Flashlight Flask

If you are in an area where lockdown restrictions have been eased and you are able to explore the great outdoors, then this is going to be your flask of choice. Even for EDC, this flask does a decent job, providing 300 ml (10 fl oz) vessel in which you can store your favourite beverage but also (as the name suggests) a flashlight. But that is not all. There is also a hidden compartment into which two collapsible stainless steel 10 ml (0.35 fl oz) shot cups are stored, along with a bottle opener. Completing this multi-purpose piece of kit there is an oil-filled compass that acts as the end cap protecting your boozy secret.

Liquid Body Flask

Designed in Brooklyn by The Principals, this Liquid Body Flask is a beautiful example of ingenuity and utility. The thin pocket flask is made through a process called hydroforming, where two sheets of surgical-grade stainless steel are welded together and inflated with water pressure, creating a slightly unique shape each time.
Available in either white, black or stainless steel, the Liquid Body Flask’s award-winning design will be as much of a talking point among your friends and the liquid that you choose to carry in it.

Ceramic Flask

Now ceramic may sound like the worst material to use to make a flask and normally we would definitely agree – that is until you see how this baby looks. With a sleek design that makes a statement all its own, she’s made with quarter-inch ceramic off-white slip cast and accented with 2 leather straps, brass stud and brass button. Treat her with a little care and she will be by your side for a little discrete drinking on the go, no matter the occasion. Available in both black and white and there is no denying she’s a pretty girl, who will get you through the metal detectors every time.

Stanley Master Unbreakable Hip Flask

Whenever we see words like unbreakable in the name of a product, our first instinct is to put that claim to the test. ‘ You think your flask is unbreakable? Well, challenge accepted’. But with the Stanley Master, it’s one challenge we’re going to lose as the cold-rolled steel finished in the perfect Foundry black powder coat is really that tuff. Perhaps more importantly, its tool-styled finished cap was crafted with internal threads for a smooth lip land with every swig. To meet true hip flask standards, the body arc on this flask was tested against hundreds of bootys to achieve perfect back-pocket comfort. Do justice to this work of art and only fill with high-quality hooch.

Izola ZYX Flask

Designed specifically for those times when you need to remember the alphabet backwards, the XYZ is as stylish is it is rugged. Considering that black goes with everything this flask will not only always fit in but it will provide the convenience of holding at least 6oz of your favourite liquor.  Designed in stainless steel by people who want to live life’s adventures, the flask would be equally at home in the inside pocket of James Bond’s tux, as it would be in the side pocket of a camera bag, as you photograph rhino on the Serengeti.

Wingback Cylindrical Hip Flask

There’s nothing like a good flask to tote around your favourite spirits in those places such as the golf course or camping, where it can be hard to get your hands on a good single malt. With a stylish cylindrical shape, the grippy knurled cap makes this flask as good to hold as it is to imbibe from. It’s CNC machined from a food-grade stainless steel bar, adheres to aerospace tolerances and holds a convenient 3-4oz. There’s a lip detail to ensure spill-free pours (as if you’re going to share), and there’s even a nifty bottle opener on the rim of the base.

If you are after a flask that has a chatter-proof chassis, then the Boulder flask is about to become your best friend. Holding 10oz, its copolyester resin body and grippy, silicone bumper mean this flask can go anywhere and the integrity of the shape will remain intact. It has a wide mouth to ensure ease when either filling, pouring or drinking and its hinged top with silicone grip is easy to open and impossible to misplace.
