No matter whether you are a beginner or someone who just wants a dependable book of cocktail recipes, you can’t go past the new Schofield’s Fine And Classic Cocktails.

Created by Internationally renowned bartender brothers, Daniel and Joe Schofield, the book is an indispensable source of information. It not only covers the classics but also some rather fine libations gathered from some of the world’s top bartenders.

“It is a book that explores the history of cocktails; some of the most famous cocktails in the world” said Joe Schofield. “It also tell people how and why we do certain things in our industry.”

Alongside the  recipes, the Schofield brothers outline best practices and their core beliefs. The book then moves on to give advice on bar ware, glassware, ice, garnishes and recipes for preparation. There is also a definitions and a glossary page.

“We collected 100 recipes that we feel every bartender and cocktail enthusiast should know,” he continued.”

The 100 recipes are presented alphabetically, beginning with the Adonis, a sherry and vermouth drink from the 1880s, and ending with the Zombie, with its four different kinds of rum, made famous by Hollywood’s Don the Beachcomber.

Each recipe is prefaced by a brief history of the concoction and instructions that include proper glassware and garnishes, whether to ice or not to ice, and whether combining the ingredients should be done in a quick shake or with a long stir.

Schofield points out that his favourite is the Bloody Mary. “And another one of my favourites is of course the Martini.

“We make ours with Schofield’s Dry Vermouth, a new product we just brought to market with Asterley Bros. It’s a very elegant, very aromatic and somewhat complex Dry Vermouth that’s perfect for mixed drinks, as well as over ice.”

Sprinkled among the classic recipes are around 20 recipes from modern bar tending icons such as Erik Lorincz, Charles Schumann, Ryan Chetiyawardana, Lauren Mote and Jake Burger, as well as a recipe by each of the Schofield brothers themselves.

This book covers the basics and then some, with insightful guidance and bartending etiquette. The brothers love of their craft shows through each page of this easy to follow guide to classic and modern drinks.

Leading bartenders in the industry, the brothers have worked at some of the best bars in the world, from the American Bar at The Savoy Hotel to the Tippling Club in Singapore. In 2018, Joe Schofield scooped the award for International Bartender of the Year at the Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards.

Later this year, the brothers are set to open their own bar, Schofield’s, in their home town of Manchester
