Bartender Yeray Monforte from Dr Stravinsky in Barcelona, Spain has been crowned the global winner of the Patrón Perfectionists cocktail competition.
In 2018, Patrón Tequila went on the search for ‘perfection’ across six continents and 17 countries. Bartenders were tasked with creating a cocktail that reflects and harnesses the passion, precision and care that goes into each bottle of ultra-premium Patrón Tequila.
The finals were held at Hacienda Patrón, the heart and soul of our brand, in Jalisco, Mexico, where the best bartenders from around the world gathered to compete in the semi-finals on 23 January 2019.
The Cocktail
Monforte’s cocktail, Wind (recipe below) was made with Patrón Silver Tequila, Orange Honey, Lemon Juice, Olive Oil, Egg White, Fino Wine and a spritz of Patrón Reposado Tequila that had been macerated in Bee Pollen.
This combination of flavours not only secured Monforte a place as one of the top six in the Grand Final the following day and ultimately his win.
The Competition

At the Grand Final, Yeray was joined by fellow finalists Óscar Olvera from Mexico, Makina Labrecque from Canada, Peter Hannah from the USA, Chloé Merz from Germany and Mitsuhiro Nakamura from Japan.

During the competition, each bartender was challenged with creating a Patrón cocktail that reflects “the passion, precision and care” that goes into each bottle of Patrón Tequila.

Wind by Yeray Monforte
Ingredients
60ml Patrón Silver tequila
60ml Eternal youth mixture (mix 25 ml orange honey, 25 ml lemon juice and 10 ml olive oil)
25ml Egg whites
20ml Fino wine
1 Spray of Patrón Reposado macerated in bee pollen
3 Pieces of fresh thyme and a strip of beeswax for garnish
Instructions
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake to chill and combine. Double strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with thyme and beeswax.
